Gangtok and surrounding regions

Gangtok

If you wish to explore a peaceful hill region town with beautiful scenery, Gangtok is the place to go. It's not for people who want a variety of points , entertainment and activities like you get in places like Shimla.

Gangtok is a good place to break away from the noisy , stressful life of the metro cities.

How to reach? If you travel by road from Bagdogra, it will be wise to travel in the daytime as there are incidents of rocks falling from upper parts on the road. There are also landslides specially along the part of route that lies alongside Teesta river. It will be good to have the travel time of 5 to 6 hours planned if you have to board an airplane or a train from Bagdogra while returning.

The zoo is not a place where you will see many animals. I prefer not to mention it as a noteworthy point.

Darjeeling

If you like beautiful tea gardens, Darjeeling maybe of interest to you. Special mention can be given tp Mirik Lake is also known as Sumendu Lake which stretches over 1.25 km. It is one of the oldest wildlife sanctuaries of India and covers an area of 38.6 km2 (14.9 sq mi).

The zoological park was a point I really enjoyed.
